Happy Halloween
We found a cute cow costume in the closet that we received with a bunch of clothes for Oliver so figured it would be fun to all dress up as cows today. So I cut out black spots and attached them to white t-shirts for me and Nathan and we showed them off to Nathan's parents, ate at Chick-fil-A, attended a church fall festival, and walked around downtown Sugarland.
Oliver is a natural for picture posing.
"Wow...I've never seen so many duckies in one place!!"
"That cat sure moves fast....must catch it!!"
Oliver loves drinking water from a straw.

Pumpkin Patch
It's the time of year when you see pumpkins out and around and leaves falling and the beautiful colors of Fall. And the weather occassionally feels like it too....! On our last trip to Henderson, Benj took some great pictures of Oliver at a pumpkin patch nearby....so enjoy!!
At first Oliver wasn't too impressed with the hay..
...then he discovered it was good to eat!!
I love how his hair sticks up in this one.
He enjoyed talking to the scarecrow...
...and finally a big smile for the camera.
Then back to playing with the hay.
This is one of my favorite faces that he likes to make...too cute!!
Then back to eating the hay...
...and this one is just perfect.

Visits to Henderson
Here's pictures from our last two visits to Henderson to see the family. Labor day weekend, Oliver enjoyed hanging out with cousins Lance and Ivy.
Lance helped Oliver chew on a ball.
Then Oliver and Ivy chatted about their day.
Later they were entertained with fun toys.
Oliver's aunt Amy actually let him take home the new toy and he loves watching Elmo go back and forth and listening to the music.
The next visit was for Oliver's 6 month old checkup and with no cousins around, Oliver got a lot of special attention from Nana...
..who discovered that he loves to hang upside down....a whole new perspective on life from that view.
He had a fun checkup with Doc and weighed a healthy 15 lbs 9 oz, and 27 inches long.
Oliver sure misses the Cahill family....!!!(so does his mom a LOT)Thursday, 08 October 2009

It's been awhile...
Wow...it's been awhile since I've posted....sorry about that. We've been at our new apartment about 3 weeks now and everything is finally almost in it's place and put away. It is really looking great and we love that we are right above the office so no loud neighbors below, or on either side of us!!! Oliver has a huge room which is great because he has started crawling full force now. He was scooting along the floor on his belly and every once in awhile he would get up on hands and knees....then one day he just took off and hasn't stopped since.
Needless to say we quickly learned to pick up stuff left on the floor if we didn't want it to end up in Oliver's mouth.
The other new adventure he has recently embarked on is trying out new food.
He has since learned to keep his hands mostly away from the spoon and his mouth and now eats proudly in his new high chair.

Playing is fun!!!
Oliver just gets cuter every day!!
He loves to grab his toes..
his favorite book is a soft, material book with pictures of animals,
and is really starting to scoot to reach his toys.
All this play wears him out, but he doesn't fall asleep until he snuggles his head into the corner.
He loves the water....swimming at the YMCA and in the tub.
Today I introduced him to the feel of grass and he really enjoyed being outside.
He was eager to explore off the blanket.
What a fun life for a beautiful little boy!!! We are truly blessed.Thursday, 06 August 2009

Beach Trip
Last weekend we took a day trip to Galveston and Oliver had his first beach experience.
He really enjoyed the water and didn't even mind when waves splashed him in the face.
Then he played with Daddy in the dirt!!
Later we strolled through downtown and stopped at an old fashioned soda shop for refreshments.
Oliver, Jonathan, and Kristin had fun making faces at each other.
At an African shop, Nathan and Jonathan tried out some of the drums, while Oliver danced around with Grandpa.

Checkup/Cousins
Now that we're down in Houston we've decided to coordinate our visits to Henderson with Brian, Amy, Lance and Ivy so that the cousins can all be there at the same time. Oliver and I made the trip by ourselves, with a lot of screaming along the way Thur morning. Oliver went ahead and had his 4 month checkup and Benj came along to help out and take pictures.
First he was measured....27 inches...he's tall for his age.
Then came the scale...he kept curling up and trying to flip over. He weighs a proud 14 lbs and 6 1/2 oz.
Then he read a book while waiting to get his shot.
He did not enjoy being poked in both legs at once.....:(
but mommy was there for comfort!!!
The next morning he awoke to find that his cousins Lance and Ivy had arrived and they had a lot of fun together.
Lance helped him wipe his drool...
then Oliver woke up Ivy...
and we managed to get a quick group shot. Notice how Lance and Oliver are about the same size!!! Oliver looks so big next to Ivy.
Then later when the cousins were napping, Oliver enjoyed reading another book and looking at himself in the mirror.

Life in Rosenberg
We've moved into a bedroom in Nathan's parents house and this will be our home for the next month or so. It's pretty cozy!!!
Oliver has enjoyed time with his granpa while the rest of us go shopping.
Yesterday we discovered a liter of baby kittens left underneath the shed in the back yard. Oliver thought they were cute.
Last night he tried out a new pair of pajamas and of course we had to take pictures because he looked just adorable, especially the footsies!!!
And this morning I caught him rolling over and over. He's mastered rolling from back to tummy and he's been rolling from tummy to back for awhile. I just read on a parenting website that most babies master rolling from tummy to back around 4 months....Oliver figured this out before he was 2 months old. And most babies roll from back to tummy around 6 months and Oliver just mastered this recently and he is not quite 4 months yet. We have such a smart, growing boy!!!Saturday, 25 July 2009

Moving Day...so long East TX!!!
Wow....moving day is almost over. We are now safely in Houston but it has definitely been an exciting, long day. Of course I documented the move with pictures....
Nathan did a great job of packing up the boxes.
All the observing just wore Oliver out.
The most interesting part of the move was getting the couch out....the guys decided to bring it out the back door and over the porch.
Thanks to tall people with long, strong arms they were able to move it pretty smoothly.
Next came the washer and dryer.
Both Moms (Grandmas) had fun playing with Oliver...!!
And here we are in the empty apartment thankful that it's all loaded.
We turned in our keys and headed off...
Houston here we come!!!

Nathan's entry
I know Rachel always posts with cool pictures of Oliver for everyone to ooh and aww at, but I'm posting now because I've got too much time on my hands.
I spent about 2 months solid looking for full-time work. Everyday I was spending most of my time online applying for work. I would occasionaly get a number, make a phone call, have an interview, but they all turned bad. I finally made a great contact through my parents in Houston, and now I've finally got a job. Rachel sent out an email to a Follett bookstore in Houston and a day later was offered a transfer. I guess the timing was perfect because they just happened to need someone at a store in Houston around the exact same time I was offered a job. It was very cool.
I'm going to be working in fast food management for a big Wendy's franchise called Emerald Foods. They offer great pay, plus massive opportunity for advancement. I don't plan on being in this position for long.
The hardest part about leaving Longview has got to be leaving our church. Mobberly Baptist has been a great place.
We started going there because we got involved in the Worship ministry so quickly. It wasn't long after we joined that Rachel and I got offered positions teaching for the church-sponsered music academy. Rachel reluctantly began teaching piano lessons. She was more qualified than she thought she was. I jumped head-first into teaching guitar.
I was making $30/hr and had a full Monday evening schedule. It was great part-time work. I continued teaching after I quit my job at the call center, and it was a great way to make ends meet for the 2 months I was out of work. It's been tough leaving my students, but I may still get back into it later in life. It's definitely improved my guitar playing.
So, now we're going crazy trying to pack everything up. It looks a little bit like this
except without the chickens. Our move out date is tommorow (Saturday the 25th). We will miss all of our East Texas friends. We will always remember this place as the place where our family began, and the people who were with us then will always be a part of that memory. (unless we find cooler people and forget about everyone
)
So long everybody! We love you all.

I love God...He is truly the light of my life and the sunshine of my soul. People and music are my calling in life. I love to dance in the rain, pick flowers, play music, jam to music, meet new people, take pictures, write....the list goes on and on. I have a wonderful husband Nathan who means so much to me. I love my family and friends and love to share about how much God has blessed me!!!
